Cloudflare

GRM Digital uses Cloudflare's global network to keep client websites fast, secure and online — from DDoS protection to 24/7 uptime. See how and why.

What is Cloudflare?

Cloudflare is a global network that sits between a website and its visitors. Instead of every request travelling all the way to a single server, Cloudflare serves cached content from a data centre near the visitor, filters out malicious traffic before it reaches the site, and keeps the connection secure — all as part of routing that traffic.

Its network spans more than 300 cities in over 100 countries, which is what makes it possible to serve a site quickly almost anywhere in the world, and to absorb attack traffic at a scale a single server never could. Beyond the CDN, Cloudflare's platform also includes DDoS protection, a web application firewall, DNS management, and edge compute tools like Cloudflare Workers.

The technology

What Cloudflare is good for

Four ways it keeps a website fast, available, and harder to take down.

Global content delivery

Global content delivery

Content is cached and served from the data centre nearest a visitor, so a site loads quickly whether that visitor is next door or on the other side of the world.

  • 300+ cities
  • 100+ countries
  • Automatic caching
DDoS & attack protection

DDoS & attack protection

Malicious traffic — from basic bots to large-scale attacks — is filtered out at the network edge, before it ever reaches the site's actual server.

  • DDoS mitigation
  • Web application firewall
  • Bot filtering
Speed & performance

Speed & performance

Caching, compression and route optimisation shave meaningful time off page loads — which matters for both user experience and search rankings.

  • Edge caching
  • Image optimisation
  • Faster load times
Uptime & reliability

Uptime & reliability

If part of the network has an issue, traffic is automatically routed around it — helping keep a site online during traffic spikes or infrastructure problems.

  • Automatic failover
  • Traffic spike handling
  • 24/7 network monitoring

Why GRM Digital uses Cloudflare

We put Cloudflare in front of client sites where uptime, speed and security genuinely matter to the business — which, for most of our clients, is all the time. It means a traffic spike from a marketing campaign, or an attempted attack, doesn't become the thing that takes a site down.

It's also proven itself over time on our own client work. We've provided ten years of secure hosting and 24/7 support for global manufacturer Gardner Denver on Cloudflare's network, including a Chinese site launch — a market where network reach and performance genuinely make or break the experience for visitors.

Because it sits in front of a site rather than replacing what's behind it, Cloudflare works alongside whatever platform a site is built on — WordPress, Kentico, React, or anything else we build.
